Steve Jobs Commencement Speech
“Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life… And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
Chances are you’ve seen this speech before. In summary, Jobs is explaining the importance of finding what you love and doing that as your life’s work. We’re not including this video because of the video’s overall message. In fact, there’s another school of thought that gives very different advice.
The real wisdom in this video lies in quote that’s pulled out above. Whatever direction you decide to take in life, take it because that’s what you want to do, or because it’s taking you down a road to become the type of person you want to be. When opting for the path less traveled, you’ll be met with opposition from those who fear risk and uncertainty. They may criticize you for what you have chosen to do or be, but as Jobs alluded to, the only person you have to be accountable to is yourself.
